The most shocking disappointment of round 7 was a home defeat of 4th placed Santa Ana (3-3) by eighth ranked Independiente (2-3) who outscored them by 20 points 86-66. It ended the two-game winning streak of Santa Ana. Independiente dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 26. They outrebounded Santa Ana 60-31 including a 24-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Independiente looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Noryen Lasley (201, college: Ave Maria, agency: Fully Feared Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 20 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Darnell Johnson (201, college: CSUSB) helped adding 30 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American forward Sean Scott (190-1997, college: Pfeiffer) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Independiente moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Santiagueno and Salvadorenos. Santa Ana at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Cojute.
Bottom-ranked Brujos (0-6) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to ninth ranked Santiagueno (2-3) 98-97. It was an exceptional evening for Colombian center John Hernandez (207-1984) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 24 rebounds and 4 assists. Santiago Esperanza accounted for 25 points. American swingman Anthony Gathings (196, college: LCU, agency: Fully Feared Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for Brujos in the defeat. Santiagueno moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Salvadorenos and Independiente. Brujos at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost.
The game in Cojutepeque was also quite interesting. Third ranked San Salvador (4-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Cojute (3-3). San Salvador managed to secure a 6-point victory 70-64 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cojute. Yoel Cubillas fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 23 rebounds for the winners. San Salvador's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maximillion Bell produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks for lost side. San Salvador have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with A.Lobos. Loser Cojute keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Santa Ana.
